 India Association of Greater Charleston (IAGC) was incorporated in 1984, when the residents
of Indian origin in Charleston felt the need to organize a community of people who were interested in the culture and heritage
of India and share the profound beauty of this culture with others. IAGC is a nonprofit, non-political and non-religious organization,
and its membership is open to anyone interested in India. To become a member or for more information, please direct inquiries
to iagcfolks@yahoo.com.. Membership dues are $50 - family, $25 - single, $15 -
student, $500 - lifetime. The membership period extends from January 1st to December 31st. Make checks payable to IAGC.
Goals The Goals of IAGC include: 1. Participating in various cultural events to
disseminate information about the rich culture of India; 2. To serve as a resource and repository of
information about India; 3. To increase the understanding of Indian culture, art, and heritage among
the community; 4. To provide a platform for people interested in India to come together in a social
setting; and, 5.

A Message from
Monica Emmanuel, President, IAGC:
It
is an honor and privilege to serve as a president of IAGC for 2009-10. I would like to take this
opportunity to thank the outgoing committee for their hard work and dedication to bring this organization to where it is today.
Also we would not have made it this far without the support from all its members. The road ahead is not easy
and each step of the way will present itself with new challenges. I am certain we can overcome these hurdles with determination,
and courage. Our theme for this year is to strengthen the unity of IAGC by gaining strength from
each other. I am encouraging the young generation to take active part in key activities at IAGC. I believe they will bring
new creative ideas to IAGC. Over
time this nurturing will lead to strong and healthy organization. IAGC was first established
in 1984. This year marks our 25th Anniversary. So, let us celebrate this special occasion by integrating with wider
community to strengthen the values of our heritage and culture.
